The Shrine

The Shrine

The Shrine of Remembrance is an iconic Melbourne commemorative landmark, built between 1928-1934 in remembrance of those who served in World War 1 and armed conflicts and peacekeeping duties since. The building was designed by Hudson & Wardrop, two Melbourne Architects and WW1 veterans. Today, the Shrine continues to honour Victorian service and sacrifice through education, exhibits, commemorative events and ceremonies.

The original Shrine sketch was hand drawn with pigment ink fineliners, and coloured with a watercolour wash of local recycled ground coffee beans.
