Skipping Girl

Skipping Girl

Otherwise known as “Little Audrey”, the animated skipping girl sign is one of Melbourne’s most loved and well known neon sings. Originating from the packaging of Skipping Girl Vinegar, the original sign was erected in 1936 and later rebuilt in the 70s. It has since become a much celebrated cultural icon.

After a period of darkness, in 2008, the National Trust (Victoria) successfully raised funds to have the sign illuminated again so that Little Audrey would once more jump rope over the streets of Abbotsford.

Declared a Victorian Heritage Icon by the National Trust in 2007, the Skipping Girl Sign is also included on the Victorian Heritage Register.
